Tournament Review: Eye of the “Siberian” Tiger – USSSA Columbia, MO 4/7/2011 11U
The Mac-N-Seitz Indians traveled to Columbia, MO looking to play two of the top teams in the State of Missouri; the Wicked Sticks from Columbia, and the St. Louis Royales. All three teams came into the tournament undefeated in 2011, but only one would finish the weekend without a blemish.
The Indians played three games on Saturday, beating the St. Louis Royals 8-3 in the opener, and beating the Wicked Sticks 15-4 in the nightcap. After finishing pool play 4-0, the Indians looked to rematches with both top teams in the Championship round. The fans were not disappointed as they saw some great baseball. The Indians beat the Wicked Sticks 4-1 in the semi-finals, and moved on to the championship game against an energized Royales team who rolled over the Columbia Cardinals 11-0 in the other semi-final match.
The Royales came out strong in the championship game, scoring 2 in the top of the first. The Indians fought back to go up 3-2 after 4, and then added 3 more with a rally in the 5th to win the well played game 6-2. Cannon Miller went the distance for the Indians giving up only two hits after the first inning.
The Indians improved their season record to 11-0, going 6-0 and outscoring their opponents 67-12.
