D’Town Tigers(MI) vs CBA Cyclones(AL) Champions Stadium

 


The D’Town Tigers played the CBA Cyclones in the first elimination round of bracket play. Whitt Davis would take the mound for the Cyclones and retire the Tigers 1-2-3 to begin the game. The Cyclones would take a 1-0 lead when Saige Benson scored on a wild pitch. Davis and Luke Hartman reached 2nd and 3rd but D’shaun Johnson left them stranded.

(Picture left) worked a solid 2nd inning also retiring the side 1-2-3.

 

Seth Richardson lead off the 2nd with a single. Blake Wynn then reached on a fielder choice. Wynn then advanced to third on a single by Wheeler Eastman. The Cyclones then scored 2 as Gates Ely reached on an error. Carson Griffis and Saige Benson hit singles to score Ely. Davis was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ethan Thomas grounded out to allow Griffis to score from 3rd giving the Cyclones a 5-0 lead.

 

In the top of the 3rd, Davis struck out the side.

 

Payton Young was hit by a pitch to lead of the 3rd but was stranded at 3rd to end the inning.

 

Sean Bunting lead off the top of the 4th with a walk. He advanced to 3rd on a hit by Kendrick Ball. Jevon Shaw singled to right center to score Bunting and cut into the lead at 5-1.

 

The Cyclones were held scoreless in the 4th by Johnson and reliever Isaiah Cunningham.

 

By rule, the 5th inning would be the last for Davis. He continued his masterful pitching striking out 2 and stranding the lone base runner of the inning.

 

Robbie Lively drew a 1 out walk but was stranded as the score remained 5-1.

 

Blake Wynn came in relief for the Cyclones. Alexander Manasa lead off with a walk but could not advance.

 

In the bottom of the 6th, Ely hustled to first to reach on a 2 out error. He advanced to 3rd on a base hit by Carson Griffis. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Tigers intentionally walked Saige Benson. Davis made them pay with a 2 rbi single to increase the lead to 7-1.

 

Wynn pitched a perfect seventh inning, striking out 2 to end the ball game.
