12U Southeastern Elite Championship Game

TPSA (AL) vs Cincy Flames (OH)

 

Florence, Alabama - The Championship Game saw the only rematch of the tournament. TPSA reached the finals with a 4-1 mark. They defeated the Mavericks 9-1 and fell to the Cincy Flames 4-2 in pool play. Bracket play began with a 9-0 victory over the Loretto Storm. The quarter finals saw TPSA defeat TBS #19 Memphis Outlaws 4-2 behind the pitching of All-Tournament member, Carter Bowen. He also helped is cause by hitting a hr. In the Semi-finals, TPSA defeated Vison Baseball 5-2 behind the pitching of 2010 TBS AA Noah Fondren and SE Elite MVP Owen Lovell.

 

 

The Cincy Flames travelled the farthest of the 16 teams coming 6 hours down to Alabama from Ohio. The Flames also entered the Championship Game with a 4-1 record. They dropped their first pool game 8-7 to the Rocket City Roadrunners. The 2nd pool game ended in victory with a 4-2 win over TPSA. The Flames defeated Patriot Baseball 14-5 to begin bracket play. In the quarter finals, the Flames defeated TBS #20 West Tn Wildcats 8-6 behind the pitching of Andrew Juelg, All-Tournament members Chase Murray and Christian Bault. Murray led the Flames with 3 hrs on the weekend. The Semi-Final game had the Flames defeating Georgia Academy/Team TPX 8-5 behind Murry Bault and Hunter Hughes.

 

Levi Thomas took the mound to begin the game and gave TPSA a solid 2 2/3 innings. Brock Mathis was the starter for the Flames going 3 innings. TPSA took and early lead at 3-0. Thomas kept the Flames in check until the 3rd inning when they scored 4 runs to close the gap at 5-4. TPSA then went to All-Tournament member Jacob Heatherly for the next 1 2/3 innings pitching a scoreless 4th inning but the Flames plated 3 in the 5th to tie things at 7 all. Owen Lovel came on to pitch the last 1 2/3 innings to record the save as TPSA as TPSA scored 3 in the 6th to win 10-8.
